Desktop Workstation Configuration Requirements

Following are suggested minimum workstation configuration requirements for using the new Finance system, insideND, and buyND:

IBM Compatible Computers
Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape Navigator 7.1
Supported Operating System: Windows 2000/XP
Other specifications: Pentium 3, 128 MB RAM, 10GB hard disk, 100 MB free disk space

Apple MacIntosh Computers
Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 5.17 or Netscape Navigator 7.02
Supported Operating System: Mac OX 9.x
Other specifications: G3, 128 MB RAM, 10GB hard disk, 300 MB free disk space

It is strongly suggested that you take measures to protect your computer against viruses. Visit the OIT Security Web site for detailed instructions. Also, McAffee Antivirus software can be downloaded now from the OIT Software Downloads page.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) Set-up
For security purposes, a VPN connection is required to access the Finance System - Query function from a location other than the ND campus network.  The VPN connection permits remote systems to access the ND network as if they were physically located on the ND campus network. If you do not currently have VPN setup on your computer, you can go to http://oit.nd.edu/security/vpn.shtml to receive set-up instructions.
